CCCP Research Seminar
Prof Chit Basu (organiser: basu@wiso.uni-koeln.de)/Prof. Michael Bechtel / Prof André Kaiser / Prof Sven-Oliver Proksch / Prof Christine Trampusch
Tuesday 14:00 –15:30,

Participation by invitation only!

Our research seminar is intended to give those who do their final thesis (Master, PhD, and Habilitation level) with the CCCP an opportunity to present their work at an early stage. As a general rule, presentations and discussion are held in English. Occasionally, we have guest speakers in our seminar.

Notes for Master students, PhD students and Postdocs:
Before you register for the research seminar in KLIPS and ask for a date for presenting your thesis, we strongly encourage you to get in contact with a potential supervisor, discuss ideas for a Master thesis and make sure that one of the professors at the CCCP (see above) agrees to be your supervisor.

Once a CCCP prof formally agreed to supervising the thesis, send an email to Jun.-Prof. Chitralekha Basu and the CCCP office stating that you want to present in the seminar. When the receipt of the email is confirmed, you are registered (and added to the internal email-list). BEFORE you do this, we expect that you have talked to one of the professors at the CCCP (Basu, Bechtel, Kaiser, Proksch, Trampusch) about supervising your Master thesis and that one of them agreed to be the supervisor. Your email to Jun.-Prof. Basu should then include information on the working title and possible dates on which you want to present (and, possibly, dates you absolutely cannot present). Slots are allocated on a first come, first served basis. As a next step, you can register in Klips for the course “Kolloquium Politikwissenschaft: CCCP Research Seminar” of your supervisor.
You should register in KLIPS for taking part in the course and, a later point in time, for the exam. Each CCCP professor is listed with a separate course in KLIPS, which is necessary for formal reasons. You have to look up the course of your supervisor. Any questions on how to formally register for the seminar and exam in KLIPS should be directed at Cyril Gläser-Zolke (cccp-sekretariat@wiso.uni-koeln.de).

Everyone, including Master students, should follow this procedure:
One week before the date you have signed up for, you send an email with your exposé / your paper to Mr. Cyril Gläser-Zolke (cccp-sekretariat@wiso.uni-koeln.de). He will forward the file to the email list for our seminar.
On the date you have signed up for, you give a presentation on your project of up to 15 minutes (Master students) or 30 minutes (PhD researchers and Postdocs). This will be followed by a Q&A until 90 minutes are over moderated by a member of the CCCP.
Any questions on the length, format etc. of the proposal should bedirected at your supervisor.

Any questions on the grading and grade for the research seminar should be directed at your supervisor.

If you feel you cannot meet the assigned deadline or need other support, please get in touch with your supervisor.

Master students are expected to attend the presentations by CCCP members and guests.

Notes for PhD researchers and Postdoc researchers from the CCCP:
One week before your presentation, please send an exposé or a full paper to Cyril Gläser-Zolke (cccp-sekretariat@wiso.uni-koeln.de). He will forward it to the email list. You cannot send emails to the list yourself.
