Ein kollaboratives künstlerisches Forschungs- und Ausstellungsprojekt mit The New School, Parsons, School of Art, Media and Technology, New York
Exkursion / Ausstellung in New York: 21.01. – 30.01.2016
What is the experience of everyday life in a global visual culture today, and which role does new technology play in this context? How do social networks and the world wide web effect the way we experience human interactions or our built environment? How does digital technology affect the way we take part in a community, social and political? How does new technology not only change our everyday life, but also our understanding of democracy?
This seminar will use experimental forms of trans-disciplinary research to investigate how our day-to-day experience is affected and structured by digital technology. We will revisit the investigative strategies of the 1937 British Mass Observation movement that aimed to create a composite portrait of life through a cross-section of collected interdisciplinary observations, and transfer its research methods to our contemporary world. We will collect findings through observational and site-based research, generating a continuously growing archive of observations that will serve as a platform for artistic research projects. In collaboration with a group of students at The New School Parsons, School of Art, Media and Technology, New York, this course will culminate in a field trip to New York including an exhibition at the Aronson gallery in January 2016. |

| Die Veranstaltungen Mass Observation (TWIN 1 -- Seminar) und Mass Observation (TWIN 2 -- Exkursion / Ausstellung) finden in englischer Sprache statt und müssen im „Doppelpack“ belegt und besucht werden. Eine individuelle Anmeldung per Mail an k.nimmerfall@uni-koeln.de ist erforderlich. Zusätzlich registrieren Sie sich für beide Veranstaltungen bei Klips – die Zulassungen werden in den ersten Semesterwochen synchronisiert. |
